On this page we will list some characteristics about “woke” individuals on the path to greater “wokefulness”, as we learn more about each other. And below are also the shared values we have followed by a growing list of activities you can engage in immediately to put these values to work in service to greater oneness and wokefulness for all. But first, if you would like to join our exciting action group, the Woke EQualizers (for all ages, including children, youth and adults), and become a Woke EQualizer yourself, email us at email@example.com. Here is more information on what a Woke EQualizer is and what we do:
—Woke EQualizers: A movement of superheroes who have committed to non-violently EQualize bullies and bullying in all its forms, including the Triple Evils (institutionalized bullying), and who are building Beloved Community to protect and defend those bullied and rid the world of bullying and the triple evils of racism, poverty, and militarism forever, though the solutions of oneness, equity, and peace.
— EQualized/EQualizing: Whenever someone, some group, or some nation expresses in thought, word or deed unfounded superiority claims over another—based on their race, gender, nationality, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, age, etc.—which is the foundation of bullying, they will be shown through non-violent but firm, direct words and deeds that they are not superior and actually suffer an inferiority complex, self-hate, and delusions of grandeur due to the fact that they have to invent fake superiority claims to feel good about themselves or their country. In a word, they are EQualized. In a personal sense, EQualizers will also EQualize themselves daily to stay humble and make sure that they are not exalting themselves above others, by listening to and learning from anyone and everyone, especially those they disagree with, and trying to bring empathy, healing, and unity, in the spirit of oneness and reconciliation. However, sometimes they may have to exercise “tough love” in order to defend individuals and groups from immediate bullying, but the ultimate goal is still always healing and reconciliation.
Regarding our essential oneness and interrelatedness to each other Dr. King (MLK) said:”
“In a real sense all life is inter-related. All men are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be, and you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be…
This is the inter-related structure of reality.”
One way to measure our own “wokefulness” is against “woke” values. Dr. King (MLK) stated:
” I am convinced that if we are to get on the right side of the world revolution, we as a nation must undergo a radical revolution of values. We must rapidly begin the shift from a thing-oriented society to a person-oriented society.” Here is a chart below, contributed by Native American Roberto Mendoza, comparing our “woke” values with existing corrupt ones:
|INDIGENOUS/WOKE/COOPERATIVE VALUES||CORPORATE / CAPITALIST VALUES|
|Generosity. Sharing, no hoarding.||Greed. Hoarding, profit, taking more than you need.|
|Cooperation. Working together. Mutual aid.||Competition. ‘Dog eat dog’. Losers can only blame themselves.|
|Community. We are all related, including plants and animals.||Individualism. Me first, pull yourself up by your bootstraps.|
|Reciprocity. If you take, you must give back in some form. Not just things, but also energy.||Exploitation. Of people, the Earth and all living beings, plus the land, air and water.|
|Gender equality. Women respected and honored. Lineage goes through the mother. Women can be leaders. Two Spirits respected.||Patriarchy. Women subordinate to men, religions have male priests, men can control and use women and girls.|
|Commons. Belongs to everyone including communities — the land, water, soil. None of this can be bought or sold.||Private property. Owners can mark off, then exploit/extract the commons for private gain.|
|Earth-centered spirituality. All living beings are sacred and need to be nurtured and protected. Ex. Water is Life/Mni Wiconi.||Materialism/consumerism. The Earth seen as real estate, humans as commodities (slavery). Everything can bought and sold on the market.|
|Indigenous/Communalist Values Horizontal, direct democracy. Government by consensus. A balance between male and female leaders.||Corporate Capitalist Values Hierarchy. Top-down, authoritarian governance. Representative instead of direct democracy. With mostly men as leaders.|
|Restorative justice. No prison/jails. Community brings wrongdoers and victims together to work out responsibility, restitution and social harmony.||Retributive justice. Revenge, punishment, isolation of ‘criminals’. Mass incarceration, private prisons; War on Drugs and militarized police.|
|Food sovereignty. Locally grown organic gardens/small farms. Use of permaculture.||Industrial sized factory farming, Using pesticides, herbicides and antibiotics.|
|Autonomy. Self-governing neighborhoods, towns and cities. No hierarchical state.||Centralized hierarchical states/ Empires. Nationalism, Plutocracies and dictatorships|
|Equal Rights. Including LGBT people regardless of race or religion.||Racism/Otherism. Segregation/ sectarianism/classism.|
|Living well instead of living better – Buen Vivir. Shifts the common understanding of human rights and human development from anthropocentric frameworks toward a more biocentric focus. Which sees humans as a part of nature, not it’s owner or master.||‘More, better, faster, bigger’. Grow or die. Continually growing inequality. Climate change, 6th Great Extinction, Insect Apocalypse. In which deforestation, massive fires and floods, desertification, increasing greenhouse gases, leads to resource wars and civilizational collapse.|
